I Officiated at the Funeral of a Friend the Other Day

by Dr. Anthony Murphy writer

I officiated at the funeral of a friend the other day.
I prayed and asked the Holy Spirit what to say.
There were over 100 people at the event.
The deceased was a Christian, so I know where he went.

But, many in the audience were not believers in God.
I think when I preached about Jesus they thought me odd.
I spoke as the Holy Spirit directed and it felt really good.
Hopefully they were receptive and my message was understood..

When you are under the anointing you say what comes to mind.
I was amazed at myself, when the proper words I could find.
My mini-sermon actually made several in the audience cry.
It hit home with them, and some were convicted, that's why.

It was an eye-opening experience for many in the audience there.
As I watched I saw some paying attention and some didn't care.
But, the Word was preached and they thought about what they heard.
I know I planted a seed today. It happens when you preach the Word.
