In Our Little Town in South Dakota, We Are Experiencing a Blizzard Today

by Dr. Anthony Murphy writer

In our little town in South Dakota, we are experiencing a blizzard today.
For us to go out in this weather many, including me, would say, “No way!”
I think of all the homeless people huddling to try to stay warm somewhere.
Unfortunately, there are so many people that, about them, really don't care.

But, the Lord tells us we are all brothers and sisters, both rich and poor.
That we should care for each other and help, He's told us this before.
We should be looking for folks that could use our love and blessings.
But, that's inconvenient and takes special effort, for this I'm confessing.

I look out the window and see the swirling snow and hear the howling storm.
I am so grateful to God that I am in a nice home where I'm safe and warm.
I can only picture the folks in covered wagons years ago out in the snow.
They didn't have a protected, nice warm home where they could go.

So, as I sit here comfy and cozy wanting to help the less fortunate now.
By donating to the various agencies including the Salvation Army, that's how
it will help many people in desperate need and also please God.
I want to be a great ambassador for God and a real blessing to others. Am I odd?
